There Is A Hiding Place

There is a hiding place
A safe secure place
Of rest and faithfulness
A place of strength
Found in the Father's love
Unceasing from above
Father, You are enough
So Lord I come
So Lord I come

Green Green It’s Green They Say

In seeing this view outback of my house, I was reminded of a song from the 1960's. It started like this…

Green, green, it's green they say
On the far side of the hill
Green, green, I'm goin' away
To where the grass is greener still.

The New Christy Minstrels 1963

Even little kids play action sports…

Take away… the Blue team player came across and took the ball away from the Orange team player, and passed it forward to a fellow team member just down the field for a break away and a score…

Forearm push-off foul that  was not called, while offensive player was in the air attempting a head-ball pass.

The ball did go where it where it was meant to and the player wound up on the ground sore with a bad bruise.

The ref waved it off saying it was incidental contact…

Stopped at the goal line..

This was a game saving stop of the runner who never made it into the end zone...

I knew the game, anticipated the action and was there to get this one shot. Timed it just right...

Any good photographer can do the same thing. It is just a matter of knowing the game, anticipating the next play and timing the shot...

At the sound of the bat hitting the ball, the outfielder takes off running, with his back to the plate, to where he thinks the ball will go.

At the last moment he looks up, sees the ball and holds out the glove as the ball lands in it and he holds on to it for the out while still running at full tilt...

Out at home...

Last inning, one run lead, tying run on second and two outs. A hit to the outfield could possibly tie the game.

Suddenly a hit to the gap in the outfield and the runner at second takes off. However, the center fielder runs over and grabs the ball after one hop and without hesitating throws the ball on a fly to home plate.

The ball came flying in as the runner was heading home. At the same time as the runner started his slide the catcher reached over and caught the ball after one bounce with his glove in just the right place to tag the runner as he was going by.

As the runner went by his body hit the catchers glove bending his wrist sideways but the catcher held on and the umpire yelled, "Out".

Game was over on a bang bang play at home and I was able to get the play of the game.

I knew the game, I anticipated where the play might be and timed the shot beautifully.

Photographing youth action sports is fun and exciting...

Tagged Out at third...

If you know the game you can anticipate what might occur ahead of time and, when you are ready and prepared for action, all that is left is just point and shoot just when you think the action is going to happen...

Knowing, anticipating and timing is all it takes. This what this month's photos are all about...

Yes, it is Friday. Jesus has been crucified, He died and was buried in a tomb that had never been used - but...

Sunday is coming. Then we will praise God and shout with joy...

He is risen!

The warmest of smiles , even though tired.

After talking for awhile she gave me a very warm and genuine smile. When I told her why I took the photo when I did, she looked at me for a moment and said, "You made it easy. Thank you."

By then her friend came and off they went. My last photo that day was well worth staying the extra hour...

March 9, 1969

On January 3, 1969 I started a new job at a hospital. I met Mary, who was working at that hospital, that same day for the first time ever.

Something clicked for us and we became inseparable from that day on.

In February we became engaged and were married on March 9, 1969. We have been together ever since and by God's grace our love for each other is deeper and stronger than ever.

BTW ... for those wondering - our first of two children did not arrive until four years later...

Day Is Done

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.

Fading light, dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.
From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night.

Thanks and praise, for our days,
'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, neath the sky;
As we go, this we know, God is nigh.

Taps Lyrics

Pondering What Is Next

I am going to take a few days off to ponder my future photography activities.

I am now in my mid 70's and am thinking of cutting back. Between my age and the pandemic I have not been able to get out much to do any new work.

It could very well be that I may show some of my earlier work just to fill in for a couple of weeks while I think about the future.

It will be interesting. We will see...
