Happy Autumn

One of many "road trip" photos I have taken. Published in a calendar and magazine…

Taken through a windshield of my Jeep Cherokee while driving down a back country road going about 40 MPH. This is but one of many I have captured over the years…

This one, interestingly, was taken with a 5MP Canon A95 point and shoot camera. One of three p&s cameras I have used. Presently using a Fuji X20 and still love it…

Waiting

Walk into a waiting room and you notice an empty chair, like this, with personal items in the seat and you wonder "where is the owner?"

After the visit you go to leave and you see that the chair is still there. Why? You realize that you will never know the story behind the empty chair…

Last of No-name photos

Tree at the end of PeeVine Road.

This road is sort of special. Five years before my wife Mary and I met, just fresh out of high school and only 18, Mary got the urge to buy a motorcycle.

She got a used BMW bike, taught herself how to ride it and change gears. The road in the photo, just a couple of miles out of town, is
where she went every time out to hone her skills.

She had the bike for only a couple of months, got bored with it, sold it and moved on. Besides, Winter was not far away and she needed a car for work.

It is a beautiful road and the tree in the view just adds to the roads mysteries. Won't say any more.

No-name Photo

View of Burnside Bridge that I took a few years ago. At the time I knew nothing of a similar image that had been taker shortly after the battle of Antietam.

This is the view that Union soldiers had while approaching the bridge before the battle, at this bridge, began.

No-Name Photo

A Bank-barn on a WV country farm. It is called a Bank-barn because one end is in a bank so that hay can be driven in on a cart or wagon and stored, and then dumped down through holes in the floor to feed the livestock that is kept in the bottom part of the barn.

The livestock enters in through the doors on the bottom of the barn at the end of the bank where it is lower.

Even on stormy days it works wonderfully…

Wonder What She Is Thinking?

The lady on the right was talking with the two men on the left and the woman in the middle was just staring out into space, not paying attention to anyone.

It would have been interesting to know what she was thinking at this point…

Me Myself and I

There I am, sitting on the couch watching myself and me looking at the camera, setup somewhere, while taking a break from discussing what photos to post this week.

Well there are four more to come over the next four days. Then, ten more over the next two weeks. Mostly street photography and all black and white photos. Hope you enjoy looking at them.

The Cantaloupe Bowl

Ended the hot weather week with one more bowl of bite sized pieces of cantaloupe. A fresh vegetable, or fruit if you wish, from an Amish farm and cut up by my wife, chilled and served with sea salt.

Makes a wonderfully cool afternoon delight on a hot Summer day…  Well I did have to eat it before it got warm, didn't I… ?

Left Behind

When the Lonaconing Silk Mill suddenly closed, the employees were not allowed back in, not even to retrieve their belongings. Even shoes, that were used during work hours are still there…

On the positive side the silk mill is the only one of its kind in the United States that is still intact just as it was on the day that it closed back in July of 1957…
