Wonder What She Is Thinking?

The lady on the right was talking with the two men on the left and the woman in the middle was just staring out into space, not paying attention to anyone.

It would have been interesting to know what she was thinking at this point…

Who Is She Watching?

I was walking through a crowd when I saw her. Without hesitation I lifted my camera and snapped the shutter.

A couple of seconds later she got up and just disappeared into the crowd…

Me Myself and I

There I am, sitting on the couch watching myself and me looking at the camera, setup somewhere, while taking a break from discussing what photos to post this week.

Well there are four more to come over the next four days. Then, ten more over the next two weeks. Mostly street photography and all black and white photos. Hope you enjoy looking at them.

The Cantaloupe Bowl

Ended the hot weather week with one more bowl of bite sized pieces of cantaloupe. A fresh vegetable, or fruit if you wish, from an Amish farm and cut up by my wife, chilled and served with sea salt.

Makes a wonderfully cool afternoon delight on a hot Summer day…  Well I did have to eat it before it got warm, didn't I… ?

Left Behind

When the Lonaconing Silk Mill suddenly closed, the employees were not allowed back in, not even to retrieve their belongings. Even shoes, that were used during work hours are still there…

On the positive side the silk mill is the only one of its kind in the United States that is still intact just as it was on the day that it closed back in July of 1957…

Left Over Yarn

Yarn left over from when the mill closed. It has been rummaged through and picked over. Left for time to create its end. Never to be used for anything good.

One can only look and wonder why it's end must be this way…

Lonaconing Silk Mill

Front Entrance…

In July of 1957 the workers of this silk mill went on strike for higher wages. The company was already having money problems and decided to just close its doors and shut down the mill.

Workers were not allowed to go in and get their personal item and, for the most part, they are still there. It is like entering a time portal to get back in time.

Nine more photos will follow showing what the mill was like back in 2013 when I, and a few others, were allowed to go in and photograph all we wanted anywhere we wanted.

Forgotten Farm Left In A Valley

Ever wonder what life may have been like back in the days of a place like this?

My Dad was born and raised on a country farm back in the early 1900's right after the turn of the century. The stories he told made life sound hard, and most likely it was, but the family always found time for fun.

He, his two brothers and his Dad would get up early to do morning chores on the farm while my GrandMa would fix a big breakfast. After which my Dad and uncles went off to school…

Farm scenes, like this one, while fascinating does not really tell the whole story, but it does make one wonder…

There Is A Hiding Place

There is a hiding place
A safe secure place

So Lord I come

Green Green It’s Green They Say

In seeing this view outback of my house, I was reminded of a song from the 1960's. It started like this…

Green, green, it's green they say
On the far side of the hill
Green, green, I'm goin' away
To where the grass is greener still.

The New Christy Minstrels 1963

Forearm push-off foul that  was not called, while offensive player was in the air attempting a head-ball pass.

The ball did go where it where it was meant to and the player wound up on the ground sore with a bad bruise.

The ref waved it off saying it was incidental contact…

Stopped at the goal line..

This was a game saving stop of the runner who never made it into the end zone...

I knew the game, anticipated the action and was there to get this one shot. Timed it just right...

Any good photographer can do the same thing. It is just a matter of knowing the game, anticipating the next play and timing the shot...
