First Rhododendron

Right outside our front door is this wonderful Rhododendron Bush. In the Fall I like to prune it and every Spring we always look for the first flower. This is the one for this year.

I went out front the other day to get the morning newspaper and looked over and there it was. I went back inside, got my camera and came back out and took this photo. Well, like I say on this page, over on the right...

"The purpose of this journal is to show that you can find something of interest to photograph even if you don't leave your own yard."

I guess this is another example of the simple saying... :-)

A Rush Of Wind

The sky was starting to get dark with a rumble of occasional thunder when suddenly a rush of wind came flying through and took just a small section of the clouds and started blowing them along creating this scene before me. I had never seen anything like it before...

One Last Drag

Seeing this makes me very glad that I quit smoking when I did. I remember these times. Not completely finished but not wanting to waste anything, you stand at the door taking two or three puffs before throwing the cig away. And, at today's prices, that can add up to a nice chunk of change at the end of the pack.

When I quit, cold turkey, back in 79 the cost of a carton of cigarettes was less than what stores charge for a pack today. Another reason that I quit; I save money and I am physically better because I did.

One last drag, yeah, I am glad that I quit when I did...

The PROM In Black & White

Please click on the photo for a better image...

I am not a portrait photographer. However, sometimes I am asked to do some special event photography and most of the time I will say yes. For work like this I let the client or subject do their own thing - or let someone else set up the look - and like a photojournalist I like to look, wait and shoot when I think something looks good. This is one of those times that it all came together just right. I really like this look, especially in black & white...

Soccer In The Country

Please click on the photo for a better image...

I am not an "artsy" photographer. I just like to take photos of people, places and things that I find interesting; something that most people either never see or they just take what is before them for granted.

Then I like to create an image showing as close as possible what it was that I saw. This is an example of that which was taken during an afternoon soccer match. The lighting did not last long and I had only a few moments to line up some action and capture the light as I saw it, and a just a couple of seconds after taking this image the lighting completely changed and just went neutral...

Farm Next Door

Please click on the photo for a better image...

One of my Grandsons is a starting outfielder on his high school varsity baseball team. So, we go to as many of his games as possible; as we do our other Grandsons events.

In our area of the country we are mostly in the country than in a city environment, and many of his games are at schools that are in the country. This is an example of that. At an away game we were sitting pretty much behind home plate but, if one were to turn around this is what they would see. The "Farm Next Door".

Man I do enjoy, and am very glad, that I live in the country and not in a city somewhere... :-)
