Seneca Rocks & World War II

At the Discovery Center, at the base of Seneca Rocks, stands a Monument with a plaque that says:

In honor of the
10th Mountain Division and
the soldiers they trained here on
Seneca Rocks.
In 1943-44 these men climbed
here to prepare themselves for the
difficulties of mountain warfare
before facing action during
World War II.

This is for the men who trained here and then went off to war…
