Weekly Black & White Photo

River View

Taken with a DSLR and an 18 – 105mm lens. The ISO was 200 and the aperture was f/8.

After a long and harsh walk through the jungle we finally came upon this river. The weather was hot and our first instincts were to jump in for a cool and refreshing swim. But then our training took over and we decided to watch for a while to make sure there were nothing in the water but fish.

Now that is an interesting way to start out a blog post. In reality, though, this photo was taken from the banks of the Potomac River along the C&O Canal in Western Maryland. Over the next couple of weeks, or so, I will showcase some more scenes taken while on this venture and I hope you will enjoy them.

As usual, these photos are posted here not only for your viewing, but also for you thoughts and suggestions on the photography that I do. If I don’t know what you like or don’t like I can’t be expected to grow in my craft. So, please, leave any comments or suggestions that you might have. Thanks.

And, yeah, this is my world and you are welcome to it…

  1. I like the way that you framed the water with the foliage.

No critique from me on this one. I am not seeing any loss of detail...just nice tones. Well done!

  2. Hello Glenn,

I just happened upon your blog this evening. Wanted to leave a comment. I scanned through a few of your blog posts and I quite enjoy your photography. Your "Reason for Riff's Photography Journal" is inspiring, and also what I hope to accomplish with my blog. We share the same view of photography. Though I am no professional, I also agree that there is always something interesting to photograph and that photography is for anyone and should be fun and enjoyable - much like life itself!

So I just wanted to say thanks! I look forward to viewing your future posts and exploring your previous ones.

    God bless!

  3. Hey Mindy, thanks for your kind comment and, please, if you ever do have any suggestions don't hesitate to send them along. I can take constructive criticism... :-)

  4. Hi Britt, what can I say. That is one of the nicest comments I have received. In a way, you've made my day, as if what I'm doing is of some worth and that makes this photoblog all the more fun.

Mindy, above, would agree, may God's blessings flow your way.
