Friday Photo Find..... Lady In The Doorway

Please click on the photo for a better image...

For a photo to be a "Friday Photo Find" image it must be something that I just happened upon and to have the opportunity for taking just one click of the shutter without thinking about it, moving to a better spot or even changing lens size, even if it is a zoom. This image is an example of that.

My lens setting on my Fuji X20 was set to about 85mm and I used the P Exposure setting in B&W mode...

The Tulip

A Pink Tulip from the garden of my Wife. Originally in Pink, this was taken in black & white mode with my Fuji X20. In Photoshop Elements I adjusted levels and did a little burning in of the image and finished off with a touch of enhanced sharpening after resizing it for viewing on the Internet.

Grand Old Flag..... Memorial Day In The USA

Please click on the photo for a better image...

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.

But when the time comes for a call to arms, millions of Americans have answered that call and many have paid for it with their life. Such a simple flag that means so much yet it stand as a symbol for the land of the free and home of the brave. Forever may it wave as a beacon of light and as a reminder of those who have died defending it and to honor those who answered the call to arms and made it back home

Friday Photo Find..... Edge Of Land

Please click on the photo for a better image...

At a place of interest that few but know lies a place of mystery at the edge of land. The openness is gone as one enters into an unknown forest as none return after going into the dark.

Many walk by but never notice the trees within; the ragged and crooked branches of the trees of old. They are just there beckoning to anyone who will but notice and venture in to see what lies inside. Ti's a good thing that no one does as for what lies within I do not know nor do I wish to find out.

The edge of land is a place to stop - look - then turn around. It is a far better thing to do to just turn and walk away than to seek what lies in the beauty of the forest, the dark, the unknown of what lies within...

Riv & Britt... A Classic B&W Prom Photo

Please click on the photo for a better image...

At a recent pre-prom photo shoot I took over 140 photos. Out of those images I chose one to convert to a black & white photo. This is that photo. The amazing thing is that out of all of the photos that I took, so far, this image has been the one most liked by everyone who has seen my photos.

Go figure...

Toadstool Through The Lens Of A Toy Camera

Please click on the photo for a better image...

When I started doing photography way back in the 50's I did my original work by using a 35mm no-name camera with a plastic lens. Now, using a Fuji X20, I am able to sometimes recreate an image that comes quite close to looking like one of those photos from the 50's. This is one of those times; although I do believe the X20, even in toy camera mode, takes a more sharper image than any of those earlier no-name cameras that I first used.

A simple toadstool from my front yard...

Kick The Ball and Kids

When I was growing up back in the 50's Kick The Ball was one of my favorite games. I loved running up to the plate and kicking it or playing the field, like these kids, and trying to catch the ball that someone else would kick. It was a lot of fun and I enjoy watching kids today still playing the game.

As much as I would love to be out there and playing the game with them, I find that doing so through the lens of my camera can be just as much fun, and easier on the body. Life goes by just to quick...

Classic Yellow Marigold

Please click on the photo for a better image...

Back lit by a late evening Sun, nestled in a rock garden & mulch, this classic Yellow Marigold stands alone to show forth the glory of a simple flower.

Another example of finding something to photograph without leaving ones own yard. Taken with a Fuji X20, handheld and used in Macro mode with the vintage camera setting, the X20 gave an almost perfect exposure reading even with back lighting coming from the sun.

My wife loves this photo as it is of one of her flowers...

Watching Watching Waiting...

Please click on the photo for a better image...

Only had a quick few seconds as I saw the man on the bike approaching the sidewalk. That is when I noticed the man on the sidewalk watching the man on the bike who was looking at the girl sitting on the planters curb waiting for something or someone, and was oblivious to what was going on around her. One quick shot is all I got.

Red Headed

Here is another example of photos from the yard where, if you are looking, you can always find something with which to photograph.

As I was looking at a back window of my small home I noticed this bird on a close by tree. I grabbed my camera from the table and it had gone around to the back of the tree. I waited and it came back around and stood here for just a few seconds, just long enough for me to get this image.

You don't have to go far for a photo op and if you are looking you will see something worth capturing for all time...
