Weekly Black & White Square Photo

Rocks & A Stream

This photo was taken with a DSLR and an 18 - 105 lens. This ISO was 400 and exposed for 1/6 sec @ f/16, in Aperture Priority Mode. Although I hand held this shot I did brace my hands on the side mirror of my car and looked through the view finder from about two feet back; I was sitting in the drivers seat when I took this image.

In Photoshop Elements I cropped the image and converted it to a B&W photo. I then added some vignetting, burning in, contrast and a touch of sharpening.

I found this scene when my wife and I were yard surfing and I took this image while waiting for my wife to come back to the car.

Yeah, this is my world and you are welcome to it.

Weekly Black & White Square Photo

The Spy

The other day, while just strolling down the street, I happened to notice someone in a weird outfit that looked like he was spying on something. I wasn't sure what he was looking at, or watching, but the situation sure looked interesting and I decided that it would be best to document the moment, just in case, so I did.

Anyway, this photo was taken with a DSLR and an 18 - 70mm lens. Settings are not available. In Photoshop Elements I cropped for the square look and converted the image to a B&W photo. I then added just a touch of contrast, vignetting and a slight tint of aging. Last, but not least, I added just a smidgen of sharpening after resizing for web viewing and that was it.

You never know what might show up in my world or what you might see so it always advisable to have a camera with you at all times; this is but one of those moments.

Yeah, this is part of my weird world and you are definitely welcome to it.

Weekly Black & White Square Photo

Stumpy

Although this is not a local scene, it is part of my world and I like this view. The photo was taken at a place called "Black Point", and I used a 5MP Point & Shoot camera, held low at almost water level, to capture this image.

In Photoshop Elements I cropped for the square look and converted the photo to a B&W image. I then added some vignetting and burned in some areas. After resizing for web viewing, I added just a touch of sharpening.

My world is not just local, it does comprise a wider area of which much I do not share with you. But this image, and another that I'll post next week, is from an area that we enjoy a lot and I just wanted to share this with you.

Yeah, this, too, is part of my world and you are welcome to it.

Weekly Black & White Square Photo

The Bench

The Bench, as seen through the lens of a DSLR; the lens is an 18 - 105mm. ISO was 800 and exposed for 1/30 @ f/5.6.

In Photoshop Elements I cropped for the square look and converted the image to B&W. I added some vignetting, did a little dodging and burning and increased the contrast. After resizing for web-viewing I then added some sharpening.

Yeah, this is an example of my imaginary world, and you are welcome to it.

Weekly Black & White Square Photo

A Senior Moment?

In keeping with last weeks theme of Street Photography, we have here "A Senior Moment?". The reason for that title is that I've been there. You know, come across a scene and you wonder if it is this way or that, or I could have sworn it was over there. Now I'm not saying that this is what is going on here, it's just that it looks that way. However, I just could not resist taking this photo as it is.

The image was taken with a DSLR and a 28 - 200mm lens. The ISO was 400 and was exposed at 1/800 sec @ f/7.1. In Photoshop Elements I cropped for the square look and converted it to a B&W photo. I added some contrast, a little vignetting and after resizing I gave it a touch of sharpening.

This photo was taken about mid-morning on Baltimore Street at Centre Street. Being on Baltimore Street does provide numerous opportunities for street photography and this is just one of many I have taken. I like to capture things as they happen and if by chance my subject(s) happen to see me I will smile and give a slight wave. If someone asks me what I'm doing I mention that I'm just documenting life in Cumberland for future use and to show how friendly our town is. If they ask to see the photo I will show it to them and if they object I'll delete it. Nobody, yet, has asked me to do that. If I'm asked for a copy I'll get an email address, if possible, and send it to them.

Yeah, this is a street view of my world and you are welcome to it.
